I have problems finding somewhere decent to have lunch in St Kilda when I am working; especially when I am restricted by a 30 minute lunch break. Luckily, a five minute walk away is Nineteen Squares which is a cute little hole in the wall with a short, no-bullshit, well-made menu with good coffee (and one babe of a waitress).
A friend of mine, which I consider to be one that I hold pretty dear to me, just moved across the street from my office.
It was about time we lunched it.
Nineteen Squares was an obvious decision for something quick and tasty, while maintaining our grunge and ability to insult the handsome real estate agent that should never open his mouth.
My friend said he would sleep with him, despite being very straight, on condition that he not make a sound while being pounded like yesterday’s beef (channeling Elanore, here).
That aside, we both went for the chicken sandwich which they describe as “famous.”
Here is the most delicious chicken sandwich, $9.50, I have ever had in my life in it’s chewy, crunchy, fresh, sourdough glory with bitter rocket and a generous slathering of shredded chicken with house made aioli and chunks of avocado.
Washed down with a short black and water while sitting on a plastic crate, discussing my ridiculous nature and predicaments on some sand, and I hate the south side a little bit less.
