NYE/NY for 2010 was an interesting one. It went for a little too long (ahem, 4 days), I caught up with a bodybuilder, ended up at more parties than I can remember, had an intermission at the Melbourne Hospital, watched a few too many movies and hung out with the winner of the Australian Apprentice.
I am sure more happened, but be glad that I remember this at all.
I also had a party with my housemate where I deboned 18 quails, made about 50 Lt of sangria, which ended in my housemate and I standing over my giant stockpot with a bottle of Nebbiolo and a bottle of soda water in each hand pouring them in simultaneously and maniacally even though it was meant to be a pre-midnight affair.
We also made Moscow Mules, and a dear friend of mine loaned us his gigantor jug and BBQ tools for the evening.
Upon return of these items, I took him out for lunch, just as a thank you and a silencer of the activities (crimes) we committed.
We went to the local awesome joint: Provenance Food and Wine – local, meaning; near his work and my house. We both also ordered the same thing, which to him meant that he could just start eating and not have to wait for me to take photos of food.
Yep, I am a pain in the arse even to my friends.
It was a while ago, but I am pretty sure it was Pan fried ocean trout, fennel salad, $17.50. Perfectly cooked, still pink in the middle and the yogurt added some tartness to the dish, along with the pomegranate, which contrasted the sweetness of the tomatoes, fennel and the fish itself. My friend was more concerned with not eating carbs, which is a good thing for him.
Sigh.
What did carbs ever do to you?

Oh, awesome. I have eaten many things at Provenance. Love it. Some may say a little too much.
